WEEKLY SEISMICITY REPORT FOR NOVEMBER 11, 2024 TO NOVEMBER 17, 2024
During the week of November 11, 2024, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 551 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was a magnitude 5.1 that occurred on November 14 at 15:11:56 AKST (November 15, 00:11:56 UTC), 33 miles S of Tanaga Volcano. It was not reported as felt.
One event was reported as felt this week: a magnitude 4.3 earthquake that occurred 23 miles west of Tatitlek on November 13 at 00:07:03 AKST. It was felt across the greater Prince William Sound area.
Earthquake swarm activity near Adak mostly subsided this week. In contrast, the neighboring Atka swarm increased in activity, with 11 recorded events. The Kaktovik swarm remained steady, with seven recorded events.
Seven ice quakes were recorded this week, and six mining blasts were detected. Five of the blasts occurred at the Fort Knox Mine, while the sixth occurred at the Manh Choh Mine.
