During the week of October 14, 2024, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 919 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 5.3 that occurred on October 16 at 01:40:02 AKDT (October 16, 09:40:02 UTC), 142 miles SE of Westdahl Peak. This earthquake was not reported as felt, but generated 23 aftershocks throughout the week, ranging in magnitude from 2.3 to 3.2. 

There was one felt event this week, a magnitude 2.8 earthquake that occurred on October 15 at 02:43:13 AKDT, 7 miles NW of Anchorage. This event was reported as felt in Anchorage. 

There was increased earthquake swarm activity east of Atka this week, with 25 events recorded ranging in magnitude from 1.6 to 3.7. This swarm included 5 events of magnitude 3.0 or greater. 

Swarm activity continued south of Kaktovik throughout the week, albeit at a decreased rate compared to last week, with 65 events recorded ranging in magnitude from 1.2 to 2.8.

There was a landslide recorded in the Alaska Range 27 miles S of Kantishna, which occurred on October 16 at 16:00:13 AKDT, with a recorded magnitude of 1.5. 

17 icequakes were recorded this week in the Prince William Sound and Yakutat areas, ranging in magnitude from 1.0 to 1.6.
