Derreck Gossett
Seismic Data Analyst

As a seismic data analyst, Derreck’s primary duties at the Earthquake Center are locating earthquakes in Alaska and calculating their magnitude using P and S seismic wave arrivals. He contributes to weekly and monthly seismicity reports for use by researchers, state and federal agencies, and the general public. He obtained an M.S. degree from Miami University in Ohio where he specialized in earthquake clustering statistics. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, fishing, rock climbing, and exploring the Alaskan wilderness with his wife, Sam, and their dog, Kaia.
